Announcing Our Investment in System Two Security

I’m thrilled to announce our investment in System Two Security, a company rethinking how security teams detect and respond to threats. For nearly two years, we’ve explored how AI will transform the security operations center (SOC). We’ve met many companies focused on helping teams triage endless alerts, but we’ve been searching for a team tackling the real challenge: improving how we detect threats in the first place.

Fixing Threat Detection at the Core

Threat detection today is broken–and AI is massively increasing the volume of threats teams need to manage. Writing and managing detections to novel cyber threats takes significant time and resources, leaving companies vulnerable to emerging threats. And testing these detections? Practically nonexistent. SOCs are stuck with gaps in coverage and mountains of false positives.

This problem immediately resonated with me when System Two’s cofounder and CTO Prasanth Ganesan pitched me earlier this year. He outlined a new approach automating the most painful parts of threat detection leveraging the latest advances in AI. Instead of spending days writing complex scripts or tuning rules, teams could ask an AI agent to automatically generate detections, close gaps, and ensure every alert is meaningful.

A Team That Gets It

While this immediately got me excited, Prasanth and I also spoke candidly about how noisy the “AI in the SOC” space had already become, and how critical getting product, marketing, and sales right would be to cut through the noise. 

I was struck by Prasanth’s humility and self awareness about his team’s strengths–a world class engineering team that was executing on all cylinders–and relative gaps in GTM and marketing. I immediately thought that Prasanth should chat with Robert Fly, who we had the fortune to work with when he was the CEO and cofounder at Elevate Security.

Robert, Prasanth, and team spent the next three months doing customer discovery and product work together, culminating in Robert deciding to join System Two as cofounder and CEO. Robert has spent his career building security programs and solving problems like this firsthand, including scaling out the SOC at Salesforce.. He brings a practitioner’s mindset and a relentless focus on what SOCs truly need, and we’re thrilled to be working with him again. 

Already Delivering Results

Early design partners are seeing dramatic results. What used to take days now takes minutes. They’re uncovering gaps in their detection coverage and identifying threats they didn’t know they were missing. It’s not just about cutting down on noise —it’s about generating novel signals that matter.

System Two isn’t layering AI on top of legacy tools. They’re rebuilding detection from the ground up to meet today’s challenges, and enabling SOC’s to translate existing detections into new systems of record. By automating tedious work of writing detections and ensuring every detection is actionable, they’re helping SOCs operate faster, smarter, and with far less friction.

We’re excited to lead their $7 million seed round, joined by Runtime Ventures, The Hive, Webb Investment Network, and a group of visionary angels like Scott McNealy, Frederic Kerrest, and Ash Devata.
